«The 2023 Pantone Color of the Year is Viva Magenta, hybrid red that mixes the excitement of crimson and the calmness of blue for a zing that signals risk-taking. Just what we need as we try to ease our way out of the pandemic».
Pantone Color Institute.
According to Pantone, the color of the year reflects culture and lifestyle trends. Viva Magenta 18-1750 “revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement,” the company announced on its website this week.
"I appreciate the color's punchiness and boldness while still being a little subdued. And it's a nice marriage between red and pink for those who don't like either one of those polarizing colors. Linen and wedding day stationery will be fun ways, in particular, to bring in a pop of color." —Jamie Chang, Mango Muse events
How will we see this color used in 2023?
Look for “Viva Magenta” in high-fashion, beauty products, interior decorating, and all forms of advertising. While the Color of the Year is normally very present and recognizable, we think this year we’ll be seeing “Viva Magenta” on another level – loud and proud everywhere.
How can it be paired?
“Viva Magenta” is like the new black. It goes with just about anything. Pair it with pinks and creams for a natural, romantic look. Pair it with olives or deep greens and for a strong and rich feel. Or use it by itself to create a bold statement. Want to show that your brand is fun and outgoing? Pair it with light teal or pale orange.
This color is assertive but not aggressive. It matches great with yellow and turquoise and is elegant in the most dominant color categories. Powerful, brave, and fearless were used to describe the colors of Pantone. It exudes class as some members of royalty, celebrities, influencers, models, and first-class citizens have worn this color.
It is a perfect color for bridesmaids’ dresses at weddings and wedding accessories like necklaces and bracelets. Also, designers can decorate the aisle with it. This is one of the color trends that have been influenced by the Pantone colors of the year history since 2000.
